Main sites

The main places we are visiting as part of our project: six different models of new housing development.
We are also visiting ten other sites which we will be looking at but in less detail than the primary six places of interest. See our secondary sites.
Kidbrooke Village is a completely new part of south east London near Greenwich and Lewisham. It provides a mix of town houses and appartments with extensive green areas and local facilities and public transport.
Dickens Heath is near Solihull in the Midlands and includes a local centre as part of the new homes.
Castlemead near Trowbridge is an 'urban extension' along a new bypass for the town.  It offers good road access for commuters to other parts of West Wiltshire, Bath, Swindon and places providing employment and amenities.
Cranbrook in Devon is a new town which aims to be sustainable in every way. It has a new railway station, a bus service through the estate, and good road access to the M5 and to new employment areas on the fringes of Exeter.
Poundbury is an urban extension of Dorchester in Dorset. It is planned on a  traditional english 'country town'  theme with small shops and businesses all part of the community.
